My name is Mateo, I’m 15 years old, and I live in a small town in Germany with my parents, my younger brother, and my rabbit, Roxy. I’m in the 9th grade and speak five languages: I learned Spanish from my father, picked up Portuguese and English during two years in Brazil, and have French at school. I love getting to know new languages and cultures, as well as expanding my horizons by meeting new friends and improving my language skills. I play field hockey, which I enjoy because it allows me to meet friends and be part of a team. Being active is important to me, and since our town is small, I go everywhere by bike. I also enjoy playing the clarinet at school and in the school band—I’m passionate about music and listen to it a lot. When I’m not playing video games with my little brother and friends, I like spending time outside with my family, traveling, snowboarding in the winter, or surfing in the summer.
