Imagine how exciting it would be to diversify your U.S. business with talented international professionals who are ready to share your vision and mission, while bringing unique cultural, academic and hands-on experiences! Greenheart’s Career Advancement Program sponsors international university students, recent graduates and young professionals giving them the opportunity to become an Intern/Trainee with a U.S. business. These structured and guided training programs offer the chance for cultural immersion in the U.S. and professional development in the Intern or Trainee’s specific academic or occupational field.

Let’s hear from Dewa from Indonesia, a Trainee with Greenheart’s Career Advancement Program at The Charles Hotel, about her training experience in the U.S.:

Immersion in the U.S. Culture

During my training, I’ve had the opportunity to immerse myself in the work culture here. This has given me a deeper understanding of how things operate in the U.S. I’ve also built strong relationships with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, which helped me see things from a wider perspective and appreciate different cultural viewpoints. On the professional side, I’ve learned how to navigate the work environment here and how to effectively manage teams and people, which has been an invaluable skill. These experiences have not only enhanced my ability to work efficiently but have also given me the confidence to take on leadership roles in the future.

The Business Culture in the U.S. vs. Home

In Indonesia, business culture in the hospitality industry is more formal and respectful, with a focus on building personal relationships and respecting seniority. People tend to be polite and friendly, and decisions are often made by higher-ups. In the U.S., the business culture is more casual and direct. People value efficiency, clear communication, and innovation. Employees are encouraged to speak up and take initiative, and the focus is on quick, high-quality service.

An Incredibly Rewarding Training Experience

My experience as a Trainee with Greenheart has been incredibly rewarding. The Greenheart team provided clear guidance throughout the process, from the application stage to my arrival in the U.S. They were very supportive while helping me understand the program requirements. They were always available to answer my questions. The training itself was both challenging and enriching, allowing me to develop important skills in the hospitality industry. I also appreciated the cultural exchange aspect of the program. Overall, being a part of Greenheart’s Career Advancement Program has been an amazing opportunity for both personal and professional growth.
