Behind every successful J-1 Intern and Trainee program is a thorough and meticulous review process. Today, we’re taking you behind the scenes with Greenheart’s Enrollments team to explore how they review DS-7002 Training/Internship Placement Plans (T/IPPs) to ensure compliance and set our participants up for success.
Meet Greenheart’s Enrollments Team!

Our Enrollments team plays a pivotal role in reviewing and approving participant applications, generating SEVIS IDs, and managing participant data and insurance. They ensure that every step of the process is handled with care and precision.
The Review Process: A Keen Eye for Detail
Each day, our team meticulously reviews applications, with a strong focus on the T/IPP. The first step in the process is a close examination of the T/IPP submitted by the Host Organization. We look for clear, specific details about the intern or trainee’s role, goals, and the skills they will gain throughout the program.

Why Details Matter
The devil is in the details—and they matter more than you might think! A detailed, well-crafted T/IPP ensures that the participant’s experience aligns with their field of study or career aspirations while complying with U.S. Department of State regulations. We verify that the program isn’t just about work; it needs to be a structured, educational experience designed to develop the participant professionally.

Timing is Everything
While speed is important, precision is key. Our team balances a sense of urgency with the need for accuracy to prevent delays later. Once the T/IPP is approved, we move to the next critical step—securing signatures.
The Signature Request Process
After approval, the T/IPP needs to be signed by both the Host Organization and the participant. This is a crucial step for moving forward with the visa application. Our team carefully tracks each signature request to ensure that nothing gets overlooked, helping us keep the process on schedule.

Final Uploads and Application Acceptance
The team uploads the signed T/IPP and supporting documents into our system once all signatures are obtained. These documents undergo a comprehensive final review to ensure everything is in order. We double-check the consistency and alignment of documents—passport details, transcripts, signed T/IPP, and Host Organization information—before marking the application as “accepted.” Once this is done, the process is ready to move to the next step: SEVIS ID issuance.

The Final Step: SEVIS ID and Visa Approval
With the application approved, our team secures the SEVIS ID and DS forms. This marks the final step in the approval process, and the participant can now proceed with scheduling their visa interview. The SEVIS ID is a unique identifier that tracks the participant’s visa status and program details. Once applicants have their paperwork in hand, they head to the visa interview to have all their documents, including the signed T/IPP reviewed. After passing the interview and necessary checks, including social media vetting, the participant can receive their visa and get ready to start their journey!
The work of our Enrollments team is not just essential—it’s the backbone of the J-1 Intern and Trainee program. Their dedication to accuracy and compliance ensures that every participant’s journey runs smoothly from start to finish. We’re grateful for all they do!
