By Raymond Preston, Account Management Coordinator, Greenheart Exchange.
Greenheart was proud to host our Winter Job Fair in Lima, Peru, bringing together our committed host organizations, our trusted partner Overseas Peru, and a dynamic group of eager participants. Each season, Greenheart organizes international job fairs in locations around the globe, giving host organizations the opportunity to meet candidates face-to-face while immersing themselves in the local culture. This unique approach not only creates meaningful cross-cultural connections but also allows hosts to successfully complete their seasonal hiring in just four days.
A Lively and Successful Job Fair
The vibrant capital of Peru set the stage for an exciting and impactful event — Greenheart’s International Job Fair in Lima. Representatives from three of Greenheart’s treasured Host Organizations attended the event, including Isabella Albrecht from Grand Geneva, Kate Taylor from Deer Valley, and Rachael Lofton from Okana Resorts. Each recruiter brought with them a wealth of knowledge and open positions, looking to connect with Peruvian participants eager to work abroad. With airline tickets in hand, we traveled to Lima for a week full of interviews, cultural excursions and connection, and heartfelt community service.

The outcome of the International Job Fair was overwhelmingly positive. With over 98% of interviewed candidates selected, the Job Fair proved to be not only productive but also inspiring. Interviewees arrived well-prepared, enthusiastic, and professional, showcasing both their readiness and eagerness to join the Work and Travel Program. For interviewers, the high level of preparation and enthusiasm among candidates was a standout feature of the day.

Moving experience volunteering at Casa Magia
One of the most moving experiences of the trip was a volunteer visit to Casa Magia, a center dedicated to supporting children with cancer and their families. Casa Magia provides far more than just treatment — it offers housing, education, emotional care, and hope. During our time there, we helped the children with their homework, shared smiles, and witnessed the strength and resilience that radiates throughout the center. Everyone left Casa Magia with hearts full and deeply touched by the love and care the staff pours into every child.

Wonderful Immersion in Peruvian Culture
To round out the week, Overseas Peru led us on a cultural excursion across Lima, offering a colorful and immersive look into Peruvian life. The group explored several iconic neighborhoods and landmarks throughout Lima, just in time to catch the festive energy leading up to Peruvian Independence Day. The city was alive with vibrant colors, local art, and Peruvian flags proudly waving in nearly every direction. We explored historic sites, tasted traditional cuisine, and experienced the rich cultural heritage that makes Lima such a unique destination.
Final Thoughts
Many of us from the United States had staggered departures back to the United States. Although we had many experiences during our time in Lima, we were eager to explore Peru and South America more. With a successful International Job Fair behind us, we are even more excited to see the successful participants back in the United States later this year
