The Teach USA Program has a significant role in bridging cultural gaps and shaping perceptions about the U.S. and about the cultures of other countries.
When a U.S. school district hires with Greenheart Exchange, it gains access to superb international talent in the field of teaching. Greenheart Exchange screens, interviews, and recruits highly qualified teachers from all over the world who teach a variety of subjects, including elementary education, STEM, world languages, and special education. We take this task very seriously and make hiring international teachers a smooth process — not only for school districts but for our teachers who entrust us for the best and most suitable teaching placements. Greenheart’s goal is to facilitate an exceptional professional exchange program for teachers from all around the world to share their knowledge and experience in the U.S.
We see the undeniable impact that Greenheart’s Teach USA has on international teachers, host schools, and local communities.
Here’s what North Platte Public Schools’ HR Director, Kevin Mills, shared with our Teach USA team:
“I have attached an article and one picture highlighting our wonderful international teachers. They have seamlessly joined the community, found connections to other Filipinos, and they are outstanding teachers. We started with providing housing for a month and by that time, they had all found other places to live and made new friends. It has not been without struggle, but the highlight is that these individuals bring a positive attitude, high respect for all stakeholders, and are the friendliest people I have ever met!
They Bring Fresh New Perspectives
They share their culture through cross-cultural activities as well as by bringing a whole new perspective to American teachers and American students. I say that because our community is embracing change with other cultures, but this is a predominantly a Caucasian community. Their presence brings a fresh new perspective, not only on teaching but as a community!
I check in with our international staff often, even though we are in our 2nd year, they still need support and quite frankly, I enjoy their smiling, friendly, respectful way of life! I have recommended TeachUSA and Greenheart across the state of Nebraska as we are one of the few school districts that have hired more than just one; we hired seven!
We are full supporters and advocates of international recruiting as well as promoting! Last year at this time, I took all of my teachers to their first football game- it was 90 degrees out and they all had coats on! I love this staff!”
Thank you, Kevin, for sharing your experience hiring international teachers with Greenheart!
The Teach USA program connects enthusiastic, highly qualified international teachers with U.S. primary and secondary schools to promote cultural understanding. Participating teachers are placed in an accredited K-12 school (that meets or exceeds state standards) for up to three years and teach a wide range of subjects. A host school is an accredited school (public or private), that meets or exceeds state standards, and that is committed to supporting cultural exchange. Host schools do not pay a program fee but are expected to work with Greenheart Exchange as partners with the shared goal of providing our international teachers adequate support before, during, and after the program.
