By Christopher Tai (Papua New Guinea), Work and Travel alumnus (Ambassador Scholarship Fund scholar)
I was very happy to receive the news from Greenheart being one of the awardees of the Ambassador Scholarship Fund. This program let me travel to and work in the United States. It has been a great experience so far. My trip was long, but exciting. I flew from Papua New Guinea to Port Vila, Los Angeles, Chicago, Harrisburg, and finally Philadelphia. I was a bit nervous as it was my first time traveling internationally.

A Warm Welcome!
When I arrived, my colleagues welcomed me warmly, including two other participants Papua New Guinea. At work, I was happy to be part of a friendly team who made my work fun and enjoyable. The American culture was different, and it can take time to adjust. But I am determined to make the most of my experience.

Having First-time Experiences
I made friends with my American colleagues, who were very kind and helpful. I had many great experiences in the United States, but two things that stood out were the kindness of the American people and the snow. I had never seen snow before, and it was amazing to experience winter for the first time.

Final Thoughts!
I had a lot of fun and learned a lot. I’m grateful for this experience and hope to return to the United States one day. I’ll be returning back to my home country and sharing my experiences with friends and families!

Thank you, Christopher, for sharing your Work and Travel Program experience with us! We wish you all the best in your future!
